About

 Tracey - Bia Beauty Founder

I’ve always loved plants, when I’m out walking I usually have my head stuck in a plant, figuring out what I can use it for. It’s this passion that led me to study Herbal Science at Cork Institute of Technology. And it was during this four year degree that the idea for Bia Beauty grew. I was given the task of creating, marketing and selling a natural product as part of an Innovation module. I made a 100% natural moisturiser and sold it locally at farmers markets. The response was so positive that I continued to make and sell it long after the project had ended.

Business Woman of the Year AwardAlso during this time my little son Feidhlim was born. While pregnant, I, like most new mums-to-be became really concerned about what I was putting into and onto my body. I began to make all the families skin care and toiletries; shampoos, nappy creams, moisturisers etc.

I loved the idea of combining food and skin care, to me it was obvious. The ingredients I was using were food; nut and seed oils, fruits, herbs, spices, cocoa butter, avocado butter. I was literally feeding our skin!

And so Bia Beauty was born.

Bia Beauty has come a long way from its beginnings on my kitchen table! We are now stocking over 100 stores across Ireland and are beginning to export.

We have a loyal and committed customer base and receive regular recommendations from beauty experts. Our products and our business have received many awards  such as Tatler Beauty Award 2013, Network Cork Business Woman of the Year 2014 and Cork Innovates Bursary 2014.

Ár Scéal
Thaitin plandaí go mór liom i gcónaí. De gnáth, nuair a  bhímse amuigh faoin tuath, bíonn mo shrón ag smúradh plandaí agus mé ag samhlú cén tairbhe a bhféadfá a fháil astu. B'é an paisean seo a sheol mé chuig C.I.T. (Institiúid Teicneolaíocht Chorcaí.) Nuair a bhí mé ann (céim eolaíochta luibhe, ceithre bliain) fuair mé an smaoineamh chun 'bia beauty' a bhunú. Rinne mé maothóir céad faoin gcéad nádúrtha agus dhíol mé é san mhargadh feirmeoir áitiúil. Fuair sé glacadh an-mhaith agus mhair an patrún seo.

I rith na tréimhse sin saolaíodh ár gcéad leanbh Feidhlim. Chomh fad is a bhí mé ag iompar clainne, bhí mé buartha cosúil le gach máthair, agus mé ag ceistiú, an raibh an stiuff a bhi á úsáid agam ar mo chraiceann slán sábháilte? Thosaigh mé á dhéanamh  cúram craicinn agus earraí maisíochta , seampú, cúram naíonán, maothóirí srl.

Is aoibhinn liom an smaoineamh, comhábhair bia agus cúram craiceann á cur le chéile. Comhábhair cosúil le: ola cnó agus síol, torthaí, luibheanna, spíosraí, im cócó agus im abhacád. Bhí mé ag beathú mo chraiceann!

Mar sin, rugadh Bia Beauty.

Bhí turas fada ag Bia Beauty ón dtréimhse a thosaigh sé ag bord na cistine. Faoi láthair, tá muid ar dhíol níos mó ná céad siopaí timpeall an tíre agus thosaigh muid ag onnmhairiú.

Tá custaiméirí agus lucht leanúna dílis againn faigh muid a lán moltaí ón saineolaithe scéimhe agus bhuaigh muid gradam mar 'Tatler Beauty 2013', 'Network Cork Business Woman of the Year 2014' agus 'Cork Innovates Bursary 2014'.
